I’ve got to tell you guys about this one.
Just when you were sure you have heard the latest/greatest tale of GOP idiocy , or heard the best “Stupid GOP” joke ever; along comes the legislative body of “Mich-i-ssippi” to up the ante again.
Michigan’s GOP legislators are casting about for ideas to increase revenue for road repair here.
Randy Richardville, a Republican from Monroe, has come up with a “plan” to ameliorate the lost revenue .
Their brilliant solution: tax fuel-efficient vehicles. That’s right. You read it.
Their inspired thinking is that since fuel-efficient vehicles use less fuel they pay less tax, Therefore they should be taxed more to make up for the taxes you might have otherwise collected if you drove, saaaaaaaay, a Hummer.
I’m not making this up. This thinking really is the product of a creature actually possessing an opposable thumb. It shows you what Michigan and its voting citizenry is in for.
Because fuel conservation is a bad idea, and the avowed enemy of commerce. Right?
